About the Merger
Effective September 1, 2008, Rodefer Moss & Co, PLLC is proud to announce the merger of its practice with Melhiser Endres Tucker CPAs, P.C., otherwise known as "MET". With offices in Louisville, Kentucky, and New Albany and Corydon, Indiana, MET has been in business for over 30 years. Our combined company will operate under the Rodefer Moss name and offer a broader range of experience and talent.
"We're launching a new era in our company's history because it is exactly the right thing to do at exactly the right time. Combining these two firms means our clients have the advantage of an even broader range of experience and talent," said Jimmy Rodefer, who will serve as the firm's chief executive officer. "In our conversations with Melhiser Endres Tucker, it was amazing to discover the synergies between the two firms, specifically our internal culture and our approach to client service. We found that we both share the same dedication to client service, a desire to always improve, and a commitment to hard work."
Doug York, president of Melhiser Endres Tucker since 2004, will become President of Rodefer Moss.
"Our firm had reached the stage where there were two ways we could grow," York said. "We could acquire a smaller accounting firm or join with a prominent large firm through which we would combine assets and expand services. With Rodefer Moss, we found the perfect fit. We are excited to bring the unique abilities from each firm to our existing client base."
Rodefer will maintain his office in Knoxville; York's office will remain in New Albany. "All offices will continue their normal operations," Rodefer said. "Clients will continue to be served by the people they know and in whom they have confidence."
Rodefer and York began discussions about combining the two firms more than a year ago after meeting each other and working together through their affiliations with the BDO Seidman Alliance, a national association of privately-owned, independent accounting firms who share resources, ideas and strategies.
BDO Seidman Alliance members can call upon other member firms for assistance on projects and engagements.
"We took the idea of bringing our two firms together to our respective partners, spent several months working out the details, and we're delighted to be one company," said York.
